Department of Agri-Business and Natural Resource Economics

Welcome to the Department of Agricultural Sciences. The department was established in December 2019. The department forms one of the integral units of the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences with the mandate to teach and conduct research in the agricultural sciences. At present the department is running two programs:

• Bachelor of Agribusiness Management
• Bachelor of Agriculture and Land Use Management

It is in this department that future agricultural practitioners are educated about the various aspects of agriculture covering crops, animals, soils, economics, land use planning and management, agribusiness, extension and rural innovation, and soft skills that are essential for the job market locally and globally. Community engagement is part and parcel of the departmental operations.

The department is working towards initiating more agriculture-related programs and innovations with specialization in the fields of crop science and production, animal science and production, soil science and natural resources management, and agricultural value chains and agroecological intensification, among others.
