Our newly created Institute of Tourism and Hospitality is committed to ensuring that you come out as a self-reliant and versatile professional who matches the dynamic nature of the tourism industry.

Our team of dedicated educators, practitioners, and scholars will facilitate the learning process that will ignite that fire in you to be your best. After obtaining the basics you will soon discover that in this profession, you can use the skills and knowledge to continue learning as you are earning.
The Institute of Tourism and Hospitality is comprised of: the Department of Tourism Management, Department of Hospitality Operations and Laboratories Unit. Field activities in tour guiding, travel operations and Outdoor Leadership are organized every semester. These are the start-up activities for the Department of Travel Operations Management and a Field Tourism Training Station will soon be fully operational.
A total of five (5) accredited Programmes are offered in these Departments and learning spaces. They are: Master’s in Tourism and Hospitality Management, Bachelor of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Bachelor of Catering and Hospitality Management, Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management and Diploma in Hotel Management

The collaborative community-Based Learning Approach adopted by the Institute provides you with very unique opportunities to develop and sharpen the much practical and soft skills. This collaboration is realized through the Institute’s membership and subscription to local multistakeholder platforms as well as international professional bodies. As a result of this collaboration, the Institute harnesses the science-policy-practice nexus to offer the student an enriching learning experience that blends class, online, field, community and laboratory work.
The programs take advantage of the location of the University at the confluence of Uganda’s major tourist destinations offering wonderful natural laboratories for field-based practical sessions. They emphasize problem-solving, work and field-based experiential learning, creativity and innovativeness.
Our programs lead you to wonderful careers such as tour guiding, travel consultancy, tourism and hospitality educators, researchers, destination managers, hotel managers, waiters and waitresses, chefs, bakers, receptionists, tourism and hospitality product developers among others.
