Strategic approach to Higher education Internationalization for Nations in East Africa
Description
Kabale University is a proud partner in the SHINE Project, an Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) initiative aimed at strengthening internationalization within higher education institutions across East Africa. The project brings together universities and international partners from Uganda, Kenya, South Sudan, and Europe to enhance institutional capacity and integrate a global dimension into teaching, research, and community engagement.
The SHINE Project seeks to enhance governance, leadership, and administrative and academic capacities of partner universities to develop and implement sustainable internationalization strategies. Through this initiative, Kabale University is working to establish structured systems and institutional frameworks that support international academic collaboration, staff and student mobility, and global knowledge exchange.
As part of its role in the consortium, Kabale University is contributing to the development and implementation of internationalization strategies, strengthening institutional structures, and supporting virtual exchange programmes that promote inclusive participation and cross-cultural learning. The project also focuses on building staff capacity to lead and sustain internationalization efforts, while enhancing digital infrastructure to support global academic engagement.
Through the SHINE Project, Kabale University aims to establish a fully operational internationalization framework that promotes global partnerships, enhances academic quality, and positions the University as a competitive institution within the international higher education landscape. The initiative aligns with the University’s strategic vision of fostering academic excellence, innovation, and meaningful global collaboration.
