Orientation Program for New Students for the Academic Year 2024/2025

The Office of the Academic Registrar is pleased to announce the orientation program for new students for the academic year 2024/2025. As part of their orientation, various training sessions will be conducted to familiarize new students with the different digital systems used within the university.

Training Categories:

New students will report on August 10, 2024. During the orientation program, they will participate in training sessions covering the library, official communication platforms such as email & website, e-learning, and the Academic Information Management System (AIMS). By the end of these sessions, new students will have acquired the knowledge and skills needed to engage in either pure e-learning or a blended learning approach.

Objective of the Training
The objective of the training is to equip students with the proficiency needed to effectively use the various digital systems at Kabale University, including the library, website, university communication platforms, email, e-learning system, and AIMS.

Training Methodology and Venue
As part of the onboarding program, all new students (freshers) are required to receive comprehensive training on the different systems used at Kabale University. The training will be conducted face-to-face and will include presentations, demonstrations, case studies, illustrations, and practical exercises. The training will take place at the New Computer Lab, with practical sessions conducted using computers and mobile devices. The specifications of the training venue are detailed in the following sections.

Email Training Plan for Students

1.      Accessing KAB communications platforms (websites/portals & social media platforms)

2.      Obtain the default password for the email

3.      Logging in to the email account using web-browsers

4.      Accessing and using the email app (G-Mail)

5.      Updating account details with phone numbers & recovery email

6.      Resetting the password

7.      Description of the email services

8.      Sending, receiving and responding to the emails

9.      Accessing other official platforms that are used by the university.

10.   Understanding the university communication protocols and accessing of information about and from the university
