Kabale University Department of Procurement and Logistics was officially inaugurated on 1st March 2024. This was very critical since the courses therein produce professionals who can espouse sustainability through efficient running of both public and private organizations by improving overall organizational efficiency.

Logistics management skills were required due to the contribution Logistics makes. For example, Procurement is one of the most critical functions of the organization because it is directly concerned with spending over 60% of most organizations budgets in acquisition of enabling materials and services. These should be handled with meticulously developed strategies and ethical standards since without which organizations both public and private are likely to lose money through haemorrhage and end up collapsing.

Apt Logisticians move the world, contribute towards satisfying final consumers and assist organizations to exponentially grow especially in overall operational efficiency.

Logistics as a multidimensional management discipline has globally proven to be indispensable because of the strategic role it plays in improving business efficiency in both for profit making and non-profit making organizations. Something that shouldn’t be negated when it comes to the importance of Logistics is the 202 to 2021 global lockdown that was prompted by COVI-19 pandemic. People from different parts of the world suffered due to the sudden halting of supply chains and many businesses collapsed. Thanks to the different Logistics strategies and tactics that came in handy and reduced suffering by timely providing necessary supplies to places some being hard to reach and finally significantly reducing the devastation that would have been unprecedented. (Right product, Right quality, Right time, Right price, Right place, Right quantity, and delivered to the Right people) is what the Logistics function ENSURES and these cannot be attained without skilled Logisticians, of which Kabale University is producing at the moment. Those 7 rights promulgated by the Logistics function is what every organization looks up to in order to achieve overall continued efficiency in their operations and they wouldn’t easily be realized without a professionally run Logistics function.

Logistics a now well-known discipline which covers among others and not limited to planning, procurement, transportation, manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, and reverse activities. The function operates in both chronological and non-chronological formation of which the former is called supply chain and the latter supply network. Come and join a team of professionals who will guide you into being a globally recognized professional Logistician and you will never regret your decision.
