Overview

The Department of Communication Studies is housed under the Institute of Language Studies (IoLS) of Kabale University. The Department of Communication Studies is dedicated to the exploration and advancement of human communication in diverse contexts. Our programs emphasize the critical role of communication in shaping society, fostering relationships, and influencing media, performing industry, culture, and public discourse. Through a combination of theoretical inquiry and practical application, we prepare students to become effective communicators, ethical leaders, and critical thinkers in an ever-evolving global landscape.

 Mission

  • To equip students with the knowledge, skills, and analytical abilities necessary to navigate and influence the complex world of communication. We emphasize interdisciplinary learning, hands-on experience, and a commitment to ethical and responsible communication in all facets of life.

We offer a range of programs designed to provide students with a strong foundation in communication and journalism principles, media literacy, public speaking, and strategic communication. Areas of study include:

Currently, our department offers the following academic programs;

  • Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication (KMC)
  • Bachelor of Arts in Creative and Performing Arts (KCP)
