Assoc Prof. Mosol Kandagor
Mosol KANDAGOR is an Associate Professor in the Department of Kiswahili and Other African Languages at Moi University-Kenya. He holds Doctor of Philosophy degree (PhD) in Kiswahili Studies from Moi University and Master of Arts in Kiswahili Studies from The University of Nairobi. He has published over 80 papers in peer reviewed journals and book chapters. He has also co-authored 1 book and edited over 10 books. He has supervised over 40 postgraduate candidates. His research interests include Kiswahili studies, Language use in social media, communication, translation and interpretation studies. Currently he is the Associate Dean in the School of Arts and Social Sciences at Moi University, Kenya. He formerly served as The National Chair of Kiswahili Association of Kenya (CHAKITA). He is Editor-in-Chief of CHAKAMA Journal, Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Kiswahili and Other African Languages, Associate Editor of Mwanga wa Lugha Journal, member of TAALUMA Journal editorial board just to mention a few.
Prof. Kandagor is a beneficiary of the 2024 East Africa Kiswahili Commission Mobility Program. He has already reported to Kabale University as a visiting Professor in the Department of Kiswahili where he will be attached for one month (January 7 to February 7, 2025). His main role is to assist in the development of Doctor of Philosophy program in Kiswahili studies. He will also be involved in mentorship of members academic staff teaching Kiswahili at the institution.
