Assoc Prof. Eva Brodin

Kabale University is delighted to welcome Professor Eva Brodin, an esteemed scholar and Associate Professor at Lund University, Sweden, as a Visiting Professor in the Faculty of Social Sciences. Her appointment, funded by the RESPECT Project (Responsible Critical Thinking for Human Rights of Marginalised Groups in East Africa), underscores Kabale University’s commitment to advancing interdisciplinary research and capacity building in Uganda.

With 23 years of experience in higher education, Professor Brodin specializes in doctoral supervision, critical and creative thinking, and pedagogical innovation. Her research bridges education, psychology, and social development, with a strong focus on fostering scholarly creativity and addressing global challenges through collaborative learning.

Key Contributions at Kabale University (2024–2026):

• Supervising Master’s and PhD students in social sciences, emphasizing research methodologies and academic writing.

• Delivering training sessions on qualitative research, higher education pedagogy, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

• Conducting public lectures on topics such as academic freedom, gender equity in education, and social innovation.

• Leading the RESPECT Project, which aims to strengthen critical thinking and human rights advocacy among marginalized communities in East Africa.

• Mentoring faculty and students in research publication and grant proposal development.

Academic Leadership and Achievements:

• Award-winning researcher: Recipient of the Emerald Literati Award (2023) for her work on social innovation in Kenya and Uganda.

• Author of influential publications, including Doctoral Supervision in Theory and Practice (2020) and peer-reviewed articles in Higher Education and Studies in Graduate and Postdoctoral Education.

• Founder of SPETS, Sweden’s interdisciplinary research school on professional education.

• International examiner for doctoral theses in Ethiopia, South Africa, and Sweden.

• Editorial roles in journals such as Journal of Praxis in Higher Education and Pedagogisk Forskning i Sverige.

Global Collaborations:
Professor Brodin has partnered with institutions across Africa, including Makerere University (Uganda), Stellenbosch University (South Africa), and the African Population and Health Research Centre (Kenya). Her projects, funded by the Swedish Research Council and Horizon 2020, address education, health equity, and poverty reduction.
