Associate Professor Bamwerinde Mwetonde Wilson is a distinguished academic and researcher serving as the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences at Kabale University. With a wealth of experience in sustainable resource management, agricultural economics, and environmental science, Dr. Wilson has made significant contributions to both academic and practical fields.
Dr. Wilson holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from Makerere University and has undertaken advanced coursework in Agricultural/Environmental Economics at Imperial College at Wye, University of London. His research interests primarily focus on farm household land use decisions, sustainable land management, and integrated ecosystem management.
Throughout his career, Dr. Wilson has held various leadership positions, including National Project Manager for the FAO of the UN’s Transboundary Agroecosystem Management Project and Trust Administrator for the Bwindi Mgahinga Conservation Trust. He has also served as a Senior Lecturer and Head of Department at Uganda Christian University.
His expertise has been instrumental in developing innovative academic programs, such as the MSc in Rural Resource Management at Kabale University. Dr. Wilson is actively involved in research, publication, and supervision of postgraduate students, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in his field.
Beyond his academic pursuits, Dr. Wilson is committed to community engagement and sustainable development. He has worked extensively with local communities to improve livelihoods, conserve biodiversity, and promote sustainable land use practices. His dedication to practical solutions and evidence-based approaches has had a positive impact on the region.
Associate Professor Wilson’s passion for teaching, research, and community service makes him a valuable asset to Kabale University. His contributions to the faculty and the university as a whole are recognized and appreciated.
