Enhancing Access and Quality of Higher Education in Uganda through Open Distance e-Learning
Description
The ODeL-UG project aims to improve access to and quality of higher education in Uganda by strengthening the Open Distance e-Learning ecosystem at both institutional and national levels. Coordinated by RENU and funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education programme, the project brings together Ugandan and European institutions in a 24-month collaboration. Through evidence-based interventions, the project will develop national quality assurance frameworks, strengthen institutional capacity, enhance ICT infrastructure, and foster meaningful knowledge exchange between Uganda and Europe.
Goal & Vision
To improve the quality and accessibility of higher education in Uganda by building institutional capacity, advancing national standards, and upgrading digital infrastructure.
Key Objectives
- National Framework: Develop a comprehensive National ODeL Quality Assurance Framework in alignment with NCHE guidelines.
- Capacity Building: Strengthen the ability of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to design digital curricula and support online learners.
- ICT Infrastructure: Procure and deploy modern technological resources, including Learning Management Systems and improved connectivity.
- Global Collaboration: Foster knowledge exchange between Ugandan and European institutions through staff mobility and joint research.
