Evaluating the Anti-Tuberculosis Activity of Kigelia africana, Maytenus senegalensis and Albizia coriaria (Phase I)

Description

There is a high burden of disease arising from infectious pathogens. New pathogens are emerging and there is a re-emergency of the formerly controlled ones. The re-emerging pathogens are being resistant to the first line drugs available. Combination therapies have been opted for but still some of the microbes are multidrug resistant. For example, multidrug resistant mycobucterium tuberculosis strains are on the increase and are fast spreading around the world. Hence, there is reduced number of efficacious antibiotics which maybe used in the treatment of many infections including pneumonia and tuberculosis. This therefore calls for immediate multipronged approach to bake out a local solution to the African health challenges.
