This is to inform Kabale University Community and the General Public that in exercise of its powers conferred the relevant sections of the University and Other Tertiary Institutions Act 2001 as amended, the relevant provisions of the Kabale University Human Resource Manual (2016) as amended and on the basis of recommendations from the University appointments Board, the University Council at its 17th Meeting held on 27th February 2020, under Min.185.5(b)/17/C/2020 approved the renewal of contract for Dr. Bernard Bazirake Bamuhiiga as the University Librarian for the next five years.
Dr. Bazirake holds a Ph.D., a Masters in Information Science, a Postgraduate Diploma in Library and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences. Dr. Bazirake has had a distinguished career in Library Management systems in this country. Before joining Kabale University, he served as a Librarian for both Makerere University, Kyambogo University and Kampala International University, where he helped in establishing and nurturing the current library systems in those Institutions. He served as a Senior Member of the African Institute for Capacity Development (AICAD) based in Nairobi, Kenya. He has been a member of university management in different public Universities. He therefore prides in a unique wealth of experience in managing library affairs of a public University.
The University wishes to congratulate Dr Bazirake on this administrative recognition and we wish him the best as he takes over the office of the University Librarian in the next five years.
