Ivan Mugumya

Assistant Lecturer - Community Health

Mugumya Ivan is a dedicated academic, consultant, and public health professional with over a decade of experience in teaching across universities and health training institutions in East Africa. He is a certified medical educationist, duly registered with the Ministry of Education and Sports as a Medical Tutor, and a licensed practitioner registered with the Allied Health Professionals’ Council. Mr. Ivan is an active member of the Environmental Health Workers Association of Uganda (EHWAU), where he serves on the Executive Committee as Vice President. In addition, he provides strategic guidance as an Adviser to the Executive Committee of the Association’s SACCO, contributing to professional development, leadership, and institutional strengthening within the environmental health sector.

In addition to academia, he has over a decade of consultancy experience in public health, environmental health, HIV/AIDS prevention, occupational safety, healthcare waste management, and social safeguards. Ivan is widely recognized for his ability to integrate practical field knowledge with research and policy to address complex public and environmental health issues. He combines academic rigor with practical field experience to train future health professionals and conduct evidence-based research aimed at addressing pressing public health challenges.

Qualifications

Ivan is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Environmental Health. He holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) with specialization in Reproductive Health and Population, a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Education, and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health. His academic training reflects a strong interdisciplinary foundation in environmental health sciences, public health, and health professions education.
