Dr. Amata Mwalo Mathias is currently the head of the Travel Operations Department housed within the Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management. He has successfully championed Open and Distance E – learning (ODeL) within the Institute, apart from representing the Institute to the Senate Committee on  Research, Publications and Grants. His main research interests include eco – tourism, tourism – local economy linkages, and community development through tourism entrepreneurship.
