Susan Asiimwe
Susan Asiimwe, is an experienced nurse midwife and women’s health specialist with over 14 years of clinical practice and 7 years of university-level teaching. She has demonstrated a commitment to career development and to serve as a role model for young people, emphasising behaviour and etiquette. She is motivated by a passion for mentoring and empowering the younger generation, particularly in providing maternal child health, reproductive health knowledge and skills to the new generation of Nurses and Midwives.
With a background as a practicing midwife and lecturer in midwifery, Susan Asiimwe’s passion for maternal and child health grew through hands-on experience in both private and public hospitals. Her role in ensuring safe childbirth deeply satisfied her, but her time in gynecological clinics, where she encountered women struggling with infertility, led her to explore broader issues in women’s health. This prompted her to publish a study on the experiences of women living with involuntary childlessness in Uganda.
Susan Asiimwe is an expert in midwifery and women’s health. She holds a Bachelor of Nursing Science from Uganda Christian University and a Master of Nursing Science in Midwifery and Women’s Health from Makerere University, Uganda, and currently, an Assistant lecturer for Midwifery at Kabale University
