Assoc. Prof. Lynnette Tumwine Kyokunda

Associate Professor - Pathology

Lynnette Tumwine Kyokunda is Associate Professor, Pathology at Kabale University School of Medicine.  She is a highly qualified, knowledgeable, skilled and efficient leader, senior consultant pathologist, diagnostic laboratory expert, researcher, mentor with proven proficiency at contributing to initiatives to improve medical education, diagnostic and community health services.

Lynnette endeavors to improve medical education, diagnostics and health care globally by seeking mutual collaboration and partnerships for medical education research, primary care and policy development that supports capacity building and technology transfer for the benefit of all.

She has 22 years’ experience in teaching and learning, diagnostic service, research, academic leadership and governance. She has served as Head of Department, Pathology in Universities and Tertiary Hospitals in Uganda, Rwanda and Botswana.

She led the University of Botswana in training their first five (5) Citizen Anatomical Pathologists and establishment of the MMed Clinical Pathology program. She has an H-index of 10 and multiple collaborations in cancer research.

She has served as external examiner in Universities in Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana and South Africa. Lynnette is excited about the opportunity of contributing to the growth of pathology and diagnostics as well as establishing a cancer registry for Kigezi region, South Western Uganda.

Pathology in community screening and early diagnosis (Breast, cervical cancer, prostate)
