Irene Mutuku is a Lecturer at Department of Microbiology and in the department in the School of Medicine. She joined Kabale University in 2020 and teaches the Medical, Nursing and Public Health Students.

Apart from the official lecturing duties, she has had the opportunity to mentor and supervise students. She is passionate about contributing to educating, guiding and instilling knowledge to young curious minds, who are the future leaders in the development of vital, cutting-edge health research.

Her work and interests in scientific research include antimicrobial resistance, molecular typing of bacteria and viruses. She is currently looking at molecular characterization of phages.

Bachelors of Science (Medical Microbiology)-Jomo Kenyatta.
