Ikuesan Bamijoko Benson

Lecturer

I’m an aquaculture scientist with a strong background in environmental science, fisheries and aquaculture technology. My work centers on sustainable fish nutrition and innovative feed ingredients. I researched using iron oxide nanoparticles from Aloe vera in Clarias gariepinus diets and also explored alternative feeds like dried banana peels, yeast, cassava peels, and polyherbal mixtures. Over the past three years, I’ve been involved in Agriculture value chain education and aquaculture research, collaborating on government-funded projects and using methods like ANOVA and t-tests.

I look forward to advancing my expertise in nutrigenomics, to understand how novel feed ingredients and additives affect fish health and growth at the cellular level. My involvement in conferences and seminars has expanded my knowledge and network in the aquaculture field. I aim to tackle global food security challenges through sustainable aquaculture and research deeper into molecular techniques and the culture of indigenous fish species such as common carp, Tilapia, Nile perch and grey mullet, to promote biodiversity and sustainability in Africa.
