Assoc. Prof. Rev. Medard Rugyendo

Associate Professor-Religious Studies

Medard Rugyendo is currently an Associate Professor of Christian Religion in Ethics and teaches Religious Studies in Humanities department. He is also an ordained man in the service of God (Rev.Canon) but a non-stipendiary priest and he is entirely a full time academic staff member. But before joining Kabale University, he was a University College Principal (Bishop Barham ) – a Constituent College of Uganda Christian University at Kabale, Western Uganda from 2015-2021. He has been an external examiner of Religious Studies at Kyambogo University, but he is also current external examiner for both Bishop Stuart University and Makerere University department for Religious Studies respectively. He was also a Head of Department of Education & Dean of the Faculty of Education & Arts, Uganda Christian University from 2010-2015. For 18 years, he taught both undergraduate and postgraduate, supervised postgraduate students at the institutions aforementioned. Regarding international conferences he has attended over thirty (30), presented over 17 academic papers, published two (2) books, various book chapters and over seven academic papers. For church matters, he works as a stipendiary priest. How was an Associate Chaplain at St.Luke’s chapel, Mulago, National Referral Hospital for seven (7) years from 2003-2010 and then continued to serve both at UCU Main Campus (Thorncraft Chapel) and at Bishop Barham where he was a College Principal. Up to now he serves in such a voluntary capacity.
