Assoc Prof. Lawrence Muhwezi

Muhwezi is a dynamic and ambitious Civil Engineer with experience of over 25 years of teaching at University and construction works with excellent track record of delivering projects in time, within budgets and observing all quality assurance requirements for clients. He holds a PhD in Construction Technology and Management from the University of Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania; a Master of Science in Civil and Industrial Engineering from Voronezh State Academy of Architecture in Civil Engineering (former Soviet Union).
Associate Professor Lawrence Muhwezi is currently the Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Technology, Applied Design and Fine Art, the position he has held since March 2024. He has gone through ranks from Teaching Assistant to this current rank having served for over 25 years at Kyambogo University in different capacities. He is well versed in curriculum development, project planning and budgeting, Research development and policy analysis, procurement processes both at national and international levels, bidding strategies and general resource mobilization and management. He has a valuable blend of research experience, education, and works with minimal supervision and is self-driven to meet deadlines. He has been extensively involved in University teaching, research and consultancy in construction and management of projects.
He has supervised over 50 Masters students and one PhD and externally examined over 30 masters dissertations and 2 PhD theses in Uganda and abroad. He has served on a number of Governing Councils of Technical Colleges in Uganda and serves on several Committees of the University. He is a member of Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers (UIPE); Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (MASCE); Member of Association of Researchers in Construction Management (ARCOM)-UK. Muhwezi is also a member of the reviewers’ team of the Journal of Civil Engineering and Research (USA).
