Bachelor of Industrial and Applied Physics

Industrial chemistry is a discipline that deals with transformation of raw materials into finished products that meet the set standards and satisfy the needs of the consumer. It entails process development, optimization, and monitoring of fundamental chemical processes used in industry for transforming these raw materials into useful products. The programme comprises of unsurpassed range of courses of Chemical Engineering, Pure Chemistry, Economics, Environmental Management, Industrial Management, and Law. It is envisaged that such a breadth of training will give graduates a wide range of skills and career paths to meet the challenges of industrial development.

Entry requirements

  1. Direct entry: A candidate must have: At least two Principle Passes; one in Chemistry and another in either Mathematics or Physics in the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent, obtained at the same sitting.
  2. Diploma holders’ scheme: To be admitted to the BSc. Industrial Chemistry degree programme, a candidate should
    1. have graduated from a recognized institution and have qualified in chemistry and either physics or mathematics or a related field to these subjects with at least a credit.
    2. Holders of at least a Second Class Diploma from a recognized training institution who must have studied chemistry and mathematics or physics.
  3. Mature Age Entry Scheme: The candidate must be aged 22 years and above and must have passed the mature age entry examination by a university accredited by Uganda National Council for Higher Education with at least 50% mark in Chemistry and Mathematics or Physics.
  4. Higher Education Certificate Applicants who have passed the HEC from a recognized university with a minimum of a credit in Chemistry and either Mathematics or Physics.
