Diploma in Environmental Health Science

The Diploma in Environmental Health Sciences program is to produce a cadre of Health Workers known as Assistant Environmental Health Officers.  This cadre of Environment Health Officers plays a central role in the implementation of Primary Health Care activities and the Uganda National Minimum Health Care Package (UNMHCP) at the grass-root levels.

The aim of the course is to produce competent Assistant Environmental Health Officers (Health Inspectors) by equipping the trainees with appropriate knowledge, skills and attitudes for health promotion, disease prevention and control, and promotion of other Community Based Health Care programmes.

The curriculum is designed to run on a semester system of two years that is divided into two semesters each of 17 weeks (15 weeks of teaching and 2 weeks of examinations) one recess term of ten weeks in the first year after semester two.  The course units are detailed in the content of this curriculum.

One Principal Pass in Biology and two subsidiary passes in science subjects, plus UCE (or equivalent) with 5 passes;
