Dr. Asaph Owamukamaeli

Dr. Asaph Owamukamaeli is one of Uganda’s most accomplished and top notch Orthopedic Surgeon with over eight years of clinical and teaching experience. He is a lecturer in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Kabale University School of Medicine (KABSOM) and an orthopedic surgeon at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital, Uganda.

He has held key leadership roles, including Executive Director and Board Member of Bwindi Community Hospital, a distinguished PNFP in southwestern Uganda as well a member of the National Governing Council (NGC) of the Uganda Medical Association (UMA).

Dr. Asaph earned his undergraduate and  Master’s degree in Orthopedics from Makerere University, where he served as Chief Resident, demonstrating his dedication to medical education and mentorship.

A passionate health advocate, he frequently delivers public lectures and appears on TV to educate communities about disease prevention and the One Health model. He is an active member of the Orthopedic Society of Uganda, Uganda Medical Association, and Rotary International.

His work extends internationally, with experience at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital and Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine,Chicago USA. Committed to advancing orthopedic care and community health, especially in undeserved areas, he blends surgical expertise with leadership and research to drive impactful healthcare solutions.
