PURPOSE OF THE JOB
- To provide academic leadership and knowledge in the relevant discipline and lead the development and implementation of research and publications.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides academic leadership, guidance and mentorship in the department.
- Prepares and delivers lectures to students.
- Conducts seminars and tutorials.
- Advises students on their academic performance.
- Participates in curriculum development and review.
- Supervises student projects, field trips and placements where required.
- Sets, marks and assesses course work and examinations and provides timely feedback to students.
- Prepares and submits proposals and applications to external bodies for funding and accreditation purposes.
- Conducts research and produces scholarly publications
- Promotes quality assurance in all spheres of service delivery.
- Initiates and participates in outreach services for the development of the community
- Gives an inaugural lecture in the relevant discipline.
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
- Should have an earned PhD in the relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution of higher learning
- Should have demonstrated outstanding professional ability or exceptional academic capability in accordance with the Universities promotions policy for academic Staff.
- Should have a good track record of relevant teaching, research, publication and service to the public of not less than seven (7) years.
- Should have the ability to provide academic leadership.
- Should have five (5) new publications since promotion to track of Associate Professor.
- Should have supervised at least five (5) graduate students to completion.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
- To manage the calendar and general administration of the Office of the Vice Chancellor.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the general monitoring and smooth operation of the office of the Vice Chancellor including providing regular briefs on the functioning of the office.
- Organizes both local and international itineraries for the office including confirming travel, freights and hotel reservations.
- Participates in the organization of University ceremonies and events involving the Vice Chancellor including drafting of speeches, briefs and other correspondences involving events as instructed.
- Schedules appointments, organizes and takes minutes of meetings called by the Vice Chancellor including taking minutes of Management meetings.
- Provides timely notification to the Vice Chancellor of schedules on the calendar.
- Manages and organizes records of the Office of the Vice Chancellor.
- Compiles relevant data or information for the Vice Chancellor as instructed.
- Undertakes official administrative assignments as instructed by the Vice Chancellor from time to time.
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
- Should have a Masters degree in either Social Sciences, Development Studies, Social Work & Social Administration, Management Science, Law, Commerce (Management option), Business Administration (Management/ Marketing option) or Business Studies (Management option) Mass Communication/International relations or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Should have at least five (5) years of experience in administration gained from a reputable University three (3) of which should have been at the level of Assistant Secretary or its Equivalent.
- Should be highly organized, mature and capable of interacting with high profile persons.
- Should have excellent interpersonal skills/managing diverse group of clients and customer care.
- Should have advanced computer skills.
- Should be a person of high moral character & integrity.
- Should have hands on experience in the use of social Media handling.
- Should be grounded in the day to day operations in a University setting.
- Should be able to work under pressure and for long hours.
