Misah Natumanya is an Assistant Lecturer in the Institute of Language Studies, Kabale University. He has of recently submitted a synopsis for a Ph.D. in African Languages with a focus on Mother Tongue Education Vis-à-vis Literacy Development, trying to evaluate the implementation of the Thematic Curriculum in Uganda. He obtained his MPHIL in Linguistics from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) 2012. In 2006, he was appointed as a Teaching Assistant in the former Institute of Languages at Makerere University. In 2009, got a scholarship to Norway for the above Masters in Linguistics. In 2012, was appointed Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Linguistics, English Language Studies & Communication at Makerere University. At the same time, He taught Runyakitara in the Department of African Languages at Makerere University. He is a seasoned Runyankore-Rukiga – English translator, transcriber & editor, formerly working for the Centre for Language and Communication Services at Makerere University 2006-2017.
He is a lexicographer, having participated and edited the first-ever Monolingual Dictionary ‘Kashoboorozi y’ Orunyankore-Rukiga’. He is a Runyankore-Rukiga language specialist, quite often working with National Curriculum Development Centre as a materials developer, reviewer, and editor. He has taught English Language Studies and Communication Skills in several private Universities in Uganda such as Kampala International University, Kampala University, Cavendish University, and East African University Rwanda-2012-2018. He is a Runyankore-Rukiga language trainer, having trained American Peace Corps Volunteers-2007. He is a Language teacher, a linguist with much interest in Language Documentation and Description, General and Applied Linguistics.
