Assistant Lecturer-French

Boniface Martial is currently doing a PhD in French Language Teaching at Makerere University. He is passionate about Project-Based Learning (PBL) as a practical and learner-centered approach of teaching modern languages. His PhD research topic is “Project-Based Learning in Teaching French in Uganda. The Case of French for Specific Purposes at Kabale University”. His research interests are in PBL as well as Translation and Interpretation. He previously worked as a Teaching Assistant in French Language at Makerere University, Lecturer and Head of Department – French Language at University of Juba in South Sudan and Coordinator of the Language Centre at the University of Saint Joseph Mbarara (USJM).

He holds an M.Phil in French Language Teaching from the University of Clermont-Auvergne in France, an MA in French as a Foreign Language from the University of Rouen in France, a Post Graduate Diploma in French Language Studies from the University of Rouen, France and a BA majoring in French from Makerere University. In 2015, he received special recognition from the French government with the prestigious honorary award and medal of Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques (Knight of the Order of Academic Palms). In 2016, he was selected, trained and accredited by the French Ministry of Education as an examiner and trainer of examiners of the international French language proficiency tests (DELF/DALF).
