Bachelor of Education – Secondary

This program is called Bachelor of Education (Science) and shall run for 2 academic years with a total of nine sessions.

Bachelor of Education (Science) is a program offered to Diploma and in-service teachers who like to upgrade and to enhance science education skills. Given that science education is vehemently promoted by the government of Uganda amidst scarcity of teachers, the Faculty of Education pools efforts in ensuring that more teachers are trained and equipped with skills to propel learners into creative and active learning for sustainable development of Uganda as a whole.

Program Rationale
Uganda’s Vision 2040 aims at transforming the country from a poor economy to a middle-income status through diverse approaches/mechanism. Education is one of the key mechanisms to support this process. As the country move to the attainment of the vision 2040, several reports have pointed to the acute shortage of professional teachers in most government primary and secondary schools across the country. This calls for massive training of more teachers in specialized fields such as sciences and professional studies like psychologists, sociologist to bridge the gap. Trained teachers are crucial in managing human behaviours, emotions, and cognitions in school/community.  A program such as Bachelor of Education that trains educators with multidisciplinary spectrum of skills, talents and knowledge is therefore significantly required in the attainment of the national long-term vision.
