To enhance the quality of digital learning and education at Kabale University, the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland and Université Mohammed VI Polytechnique in Morocco have funded the C-CoDE project. A total of six African C-CoDE centers were established as part of this project. Under this project, this is the only center established in Uganda. In addition to enhancing the teaching experience, this center will create more high-quality content and ensure a better teaching-learning environment.
The project led to the establishment of a multimedia studio with state-of-the-art production equipment for E-learning activities. In addition to training University Information Technology staff in online pedagogical skills (Digital Instruction Design), Digital Studio production, and Open edX, EPFL also provided capacity building for professors.
In a ceremony held at the main campus on Kikungiri Hill, RENUMESH CEO, Brian Masiga, graced the launch event on February 7, 2024. Andrés Gomez, an eLearning specialist from EPFL, represented the EPFL partners. The Kabale Municipality Member of Parliament Hon Dr. Nicholas Kamara, the Resident District Commissioner Mr Godfrey Nyakahuma, Kabale District Chairperson Ms Miriam Akankwasa, as well as Professors and other invited staff members were also present.
