Dr. Achugbue .I. Edwin studied Library and Information Science from Diploma to Ph.D. He started his career as a Librarian at the Delta State University Library Abraka in 1999 July 12th. to October 2007, During this period he worked in the following divisions;
- Cataloging and Classification,
- Collection Development and Postgraduate Library.
In 2007 he moved from the Library to the Department of Library and Information , Faculty of Education, Delta State University, Abraka, As a Lecturer, he held several positions such as Departmental Co-ordinator/ Supervisor, SIWES (Student Industrial Work Scheme) (2008 -2010), Departmental Co-ordinator, Continuing Education Programme (2011-2016) Member Faculty of Education Exam Monitoring (2008-2013) Member Faculty of Education Teaching Practice Committee (2010-2016) Course Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Adviser (2008- 2015) , Member, DELSU Acada Co-operative Society (2013 -2018) Member Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Labour Relation Committee (2010-2013) Treasurer Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) (2005-2008) and Co-ordinator, Pre-Degree Programme in Library and Information Science (2014 -2016.
Dr. Edwin has published in reputable Journals at Local, National and International levels, the majority of his publications are ICT based. He is an active member of Learned/Professional Societies/bodies such as the Nigerian Library Association (NLA) and National Association of Library and Information Science Educators (NALISE) and also a Chartered Librarian and an effective participant in several community services such as Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government constituted facts finding Adhoc/Conflict resolution Committee, Independent National Election Accredited Election Observer for Governorship elections in Edo and Delta State general elections in Nigeria (2012) as well as the Transition Monitoring Group (TMG) for the 2013 Delta State general elections in Nigeria. In 2018, he was deployed to the Federal Republic of Uganda, East Africa by the Directorate of Technical Aid Corps (DTAC), Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nigeria as a Technical Aid on Education, attached to Kabale University Kabale, Uganda.
