The Department of Electrical Engineering started in 2009 with only six students offering Diploma in Electrical Engineering and four students offering a certificate in Electrical installations and has since grown to over 70 students offering both Bachelors and Diplomas. Students come from all parts of Uganda, and the neighboring countries of Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Congo (DRC) and South Sudan

The Department is currently headed by Mr. Cartland Richard working with committed able Engineers heading different sections and includes the following:

Mr. Paul Wanjori, Mr. Samuel Sengo Mushakangoma and Mr. Charles Mwanja
We use lectures, tutorials, practicals and sometimes engage in online learning as our flexible methods of teaching
To reinforce this status, the department has recently equipped Electrical Workshop and students comfortably do practicals

The University also signed memoranda of understanding (MoU) with other equipped institutions to enable our students access advanced workshop tools and laboratory equipment.

So far, our graduates have been able to find job placements in highly competitive places like UMEME, UETCL, National Water and Sewerage Corporation among others, which meet our set objectives

  • Admissions are in accordance to National Admission Joint Board criteria for Bachelor students
  • Admissions to Diploma programs requires 1P and 2S obtained at the same sitting or Advanced Certificate in the relevant field or its equivalent
  • E-books available on our computers in our computer lab for smooth learning
  • Essential books are in our main library and are accessed easily by our students
  • Projectors are available to aid learning processes
